Turn a word or expression into a vocabulary card, check its meaning, and add it to your deck. Creating cards this way is free.
Add a word or expression
-
Open the deck where you want to save the card and select Add card.
-
Enter a word or expression, then select Continue.
-
Review the suggested cards. Choose the meaning you want to learn by checking its translation and any definition or example.
-
Optional: Select Edit to correct a suggested card, then select Done to return to the suggestions.
-
Select Add card to save the current card. To save more than one suggested meaning, select the cards you want and use Add selected, which shows the number selected.
The card is now in your deck.
Choose the default card fields
Choose which fields Flexi generates by default for suggested cards: an example, definition, written pronunciation, and part of speech. You can still add or edit these fields on an individual card later. Set your defaults in the deck’s personalization settings; see Customize card generation.
Written pronunciation options depend on the language. Suggested cards may contain different details, so check what was generated before saving.
Check possible duplicates
If Flexi flags a possible duplicate, compare it with the card you want to add. You can still keep the new card. See Duplicates and similar cards for how to check the matches.
FAQ
Why does each card focus on one meaning?
Each card focuses on one meaning. To learn another meaning of the same word, add a separate card. See How AI creates your cards for how that meaning guides generation.
Can I study without seeing translations?
Yes. You can hide translations in the deck’s settings, though each card still needs a translation. See how to hide translations while studying.
